How can elderly people improve their covid selftest frequency and accuracy?

The client: Lab from Amsterdam + University Research from HVA University.

Covid-19 spread considerably among elderly people. This is related to the low test frequency and test accuracy of covid-19 self-testing.

How can we improve self testing frequency and accuracy?

Elderlies take way worse self-test than the rest of the people

Questions
Elderlies were spreading covid-19 all around, and infecting families.
Do elderlies use smartphones?
What are the steps of the test that elderlies perform the worst?
What can of vibe would be appealing for users?

Market research

Seeing the big picture

To start understanding the big picture and the problem, I examined with specialists in medicine, and also we observed elderlies taking a self-test.

I came up with the following conclusions

Elderlies do not know how to take a self-test.
The ones who perform the worst were the ones who were the most confident.

Instructions are the key difficult part. Small letters, bad contrast, and a lot of jargon.

Actually elderlies love smartphones in the Netherlands,
and would love to foster their relationship with doctors.

To understand the pain points I interviewed several elderlies in order to understand.

I came up with the following conclusions

Elderlies love Whatsapp, especially because of its accessibility.

The solutions available are not geared towards elderly people. They are very fast.

In terms of steps, they are the worst in the test result verification.

So what should I give them?

A guidance app that combines slow-paced videos, that has a high degree of accessibility.

Background Check

Check what language you want, and then see the onboarding carefully.

The main options are attributed according to the importance. Since guidance of taking a test is the main task, it is the biggest.

During the test

Here you see slow-paced videos of taking a self-test, and to perform.

Scaning the test

After following all the videos, you can report what result you have with a photography, that is read by artifical intelligence.

Native app for monitoring and supervision during the date

Onboarding

After the user has seen the various uses that can benefit her in the use of our product we will ask her to identify as a woman to protect the purity of the product and to raise in her a sense of security.

Background Check

To motivate the user to use the app, we will lead her to run a background check on one of the guys she is communicating with. Checking the background can empower the value we offer - a sense of security and control - knowledge is power.

Date Entry

While entering the date data the app gathers all the information needed to provide the user with the protection she needs. The step will be broken down into several steps to reduce the effort required from the user which will also help to focus her at every step.

During the Date

During the date, the app will send alerts according to the settings we set on the "date entry".

Reporting

To collect information that will be useful to our users, at the end of each date the user will be asked to report the date. We will make sure at this point to lower her concerns by security stamp and noting the fact that the information she is providing remains confidential.
